Weekend with Friends

Last Sunday (30 of April) Winnipeg friends, Matthew and Adrienna Joyce, met me in London for a visit. I had been looking forwards to this for some time and was not disappointed at all. We were able to do some touristy things like going to Greenwich (and synchronising our watches to Greenwich time), going up the London Eye and going to Cambridge. Dispite travel difficulties (including a 1 hour train ride being replaced by a 2.5 hour bus ride), we had a great time. I really appreciated just to visit and catch up with news from home. Spending time with them I also realised how much I actually have been acultured to British life, such as cars driving on the left not phasing me at all. I was amused with how shutter happy they both were, knowing they were trying to surpress their urge to take even more pictures. But had I borrowed the school's digital camera, I would have been just as shutter happy, too. Besides the part about spending time with these good friends, I think highlights of our weekend include watching a goose and gander encourging their goslings to hop out of the river (they tried so many times, and then they finally got it!), eating Chinese together and sitting in an Evening Song at King's College in Cambridge Chapel (refer to the picture). It really was a fun weekend, and made this week much more bareable. Since Adrienna is around for 3 weeks, I might consider meeting up with her again in the middle of the month with another Manitoba friend (Erin).
To end this blog on a positive note, I won't mention about the week in school. (Read into that as you wish)
Shalom
Kevin
