It's time to update
Wow! I just looked at the date of the last entry for my blog - it's been over 3 months! According to my tracking data, people are still visiting the site periodically. So As a favour for you guys, here is an update.
Since the middle of December, I have been subbing here and there. The month of December actually was surprisingly busy as a substitute, but January was a very slow month - a total of 6 working days over the entire month. One week I got a half day and that was it. By February I was getting quite depressed about the whole situation that I went to reapply as a substitute in a near by division, and applied in a division on the other side of the city. And then, suddenly, I was busy! February, despite being the shortest month, by far my busiest, with more than 50% working days than my previous best. March has been quite busy as well. So I am feeling more confident about my financial situation as we enter the spring break.
Last Saturday (after driving my older brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew to the airport for 5:15 am and attending a mission breakfast at church) I had the privilege in attending a friend's wedding. It's has been a long time since I've been at a wedding where the couple is older than I am. And it was concise, to the point and enjoyable. After the service (30 min!) we went downstairs to enjoy pastry and baked goods brought by people attending the wedding. I had my fill of cream puffs! And I got to talk to several people whom I haven't seen since leaving for England. What a great time! Thanks, Mark & Coreena!
Things are busy with family stuff, too. We celebrated my dad's 59th birthday a couple of weeks ago, and my younger brother and sister-in-law are giving up apartment living and moving into a house of their own, starting this weekend. And for myself, I just accepted a term position teaching at Glenlawn Collegiate starting after Spring Break. So, I'm quite excited about that. I'll have to get to bed earlier now so I can get to school well ahead of time... A small price to pay! It's only a term position, but it's a start! I'm in the school tomorrow to start with the transition.
